The Last of Us 2 Collector's Edition Pre-Order Guide

The Last of Us 2 Collector’s Edition Pre-Order Guide

Now that we know when The Last of Us 2 is coming out, we should know what is actually coming out on February 21. There are actually five different versions of the game: the Standard Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, Collector’s Edition, and Ellie Edition. Each has something to offer the player based on their budget. So let’s look at what is in these The Last of Us 2 collector’s editions and hope it isn’t just scissors and duct tape. Also, we’ll look at The Last of Us 2 pre-order bonuses and what you get for buying each version early. Keep in mind that Sony has not revealed the price of any of the non-standard versions but we will update this when those prices are detailed.

The Last of Us 2 pre-order bonuses

All pre-orders of every single version get the ammo capacity upgrade and crafting training manual. The former unlocks an ammo capacity upgrade for the pistol and the latter gives players access to new crafting recipes and upgrades. Both are presumably in the game for everyone, but those who pre-order will just unlock them earlier. Also it is worth mentioning that the physical edition of The Last of Us 2 is two discs like Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Last of Us 2 Standard Edition

This is, as the title implies, the standard edition of The Last of Us 2 that most people will be picking up. This covers both the digital and physical versions of the game but the digital version comes with an exclusive avatar that is a picture of Ellie’s tattoo from the game. This is only available for pre-orders of the digital and digital deluxe edition. This version will sell at $59.99.

The Last of Us 2 Digital Deluxe Edition

But that tattoo avatar isn’t the only thing in digital deluxe edition. It is the digital version of the game and also comes with a dynamic theme, digital soundtrack, six PSN avatars, and a digital mini art book from comic book publisher Dark Horse. We don’t currently know what the avatars are or what the dynamic theme looks like. This version will only be available digitally on PSN and is $69.99.

The Last of Us 2 Special Edition

The Last of Us 2 Special Edition also comes with the game, dynamic theme, and six avatars but also comes with a steelbook and physical version of the mini art book from Dark Horse. This is presumably the same one found in the digital deluxe edition but it’s a physical book filled with 48 real pages. This is a physical edition and will sell for $79.99.

The Last of Us 2 Collector’s Edition

This is not the biggest edition of the game, but it is still pretty large. It comes with the game, PS4 dynamic theme, six PSN avatars, digital soundtrack, digital mini art book, steelbook, and physical art book from the last two version but it also has its own goodies. This collector’s edition comes with a 12-inch Ellie statue, a life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet from the game, a lithograph art print and thank you letter, set of five stickers (two of the game’s logo, two of Naughty Dog’s logo, and one of Ellie’s tattoo), and six enamel pins (the game’s logo, Ellie’s knife, a stop sign with the Fireflies’ logo, a wolf, and part of Ellie’s tattoo) shown on the left of the picture. It also looks like it comes in a big box. This is a physical-only edition but and will go for $169.99.

The Last of Us 2 Ellie Edition

The Last of Us 2 Ellie Edition is the largest and most expensive version that shames all the others. This whopping edition comes with everything from the collector’s edition as well as a “fully functional” replica of Ellie’s backpack from the game, a patch with the game’s logo (on the far left of the picture), and a seven-inch vinyl record of the game’s soundtrack that is also being composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, who did the first game as well. This is also a physical-only version and will go for $229.99.
