Can you increase Gears Tactics squad size?
You cannot increase the Gears Tactics squad size. You can increase, however, your roster size in Gears Tactics. The maximum number of active troops you can use in any one mission is four. You do, though, have more troops available to choose from in your roster. But, again, you cannot increase your squad size from four troops in any mission. Four is the maximum number of units you can use in any mission throughout the game, it seems.

Although you cannot increase your squad size in Gears Tactics, you can increase the total number of troops you keep in your roster. This is good, as you can add more and different troops to your roster that can carry skills useful for particular missions and challenges. Unfortunately, it seems as though any troops left out of your mission squad will not level up. To increase the level of your troops, you have to use them in your mission squads.
Completing missions should increase your total roster size. The bigger your roster, the more troops you can keep, all with different skills and equipment. You will need to use your troops to level them up, however. This means that using a level 1 troop later on in the game might not be a good idea. All of this boils down to you having to be careful with your squad choice before every mission. Make sure you have the four best troops for any mission before you head in.
