Does PUBG have proximity chat on PS4 or Xbox One?

Immersion plays a big part in online shooter games like PUBG. You need to know your surroundings, where your teammates are, and most importantly, where enemies are hiding. That’s why features like proximity chat are important: They allow you to hear the voices of nearby players. It’s a fairly common option in PC games, but it’s a bit more rare on consoles. So, does PUBG have proximity chat on PS4 or Xbox One?

Is there proximity chat in PUBG on PS4 or Xbox One?

Sadly, PUBG on PS4 and Xbox One does not offer proximity chat. The feature is available on PC versions of the game, but not consoles. For now at least, it seems like the developers at PUBG Corporation have no intention of introducing proximity chat on consoles.

Some of the game’s fans have taken issue with this. In fact, some fans went so far as to create a Change.org petition to introduce the feature to Xbox One. Needless to say, it didn’t work. The game’s support team has stated that the developers have no plans to bring the feature to Xbox One, and we assume the same is true for PS4.

If you don’t play a lot of online games, you may not even notice that this feature is absent. PUBG still has normal voice chat, but the volume doesn’t change dynamically based on your proximity to other players. Sure, it’d be a lot more immersive if it did, but you’re not missing out on too much.

In fact, some players don’t like proximity chat at all: They like for all voice communications to be at a set volume. Seeing as how voice chat on consoles is often outright terrible (think blaring music or crying babies), it’s probably safe to say players demanding this feature are a very vocal minority.

Sorry, folks, there’s no proximity chat in PUBG for PS4 or Xbox One. If you want to jump into voice chat, you’ll have to use the old-fashioned method.
