Minecraft The End Again: How to respawn Ender Dragon

Minecraft The End Again: How to respawn Ender Dragon

Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time, which means most players have explored it inside and out. However, some players missed the chance to unlock one of the game’s final Advancements. We speak, of course, of The End Again, which requires you to defeat and then respawn the fearsome Ender Dragon. This achievement will take time and patience, but it’s not necessarily challenging. Here’s how to unlock The End Again achievement in Minecraft.

Minecraft: The End Again achievement advacement guide

The Minecraft achievement known as “The End… Again…” requires you to respawn the Ender Dragon. Naturally, this can only happen after the Ender Dragon has been defeated previously.

It should go without saying, but this is one of the final end-game activities in Minecraft. If you haven’t fought the Ender Dragon yet, you won’t be able to complete this Advancement (the new name for achievements) until he’s been defeated at least once.

From just working through Survival mode, many players will probably assume that beating the Ender Dragon is the same as beating the game itself. As it turns out, it isn’t. The End Again is one of just four Advancements that unlock after first beating the Ender Dragon. The other three — The Next Generation, You Need A Mint, and Remote Getaway — require you to hold the dragon egg, collect dragon’s breath, and escape the island, respectively.

Of the four, The End Again is perhaps the most simple, only requiring you to use your powers to bring the Ender Dragon back. It’s about as easy as taming a cat. But that’s not to say the process isn’t dangerous, as once revived, you’ll have to fight the beast once more.

How to respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft

In order to respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft, you’ll need to make four End Crystals. These take the appearance of floating tesseracts, and they should look familiar, since you likely had to destroy some of them to beat the Ender Dragon the first time around.

Crafting End Crystals requires seven glass, one Eye of Ender, and one Ghast Tear to craft. Hopefully you already have some of these items in stock. If not, you’ll have to find them. Eyes of Ender are crafted by combining Blaze Powder and Ender Pearls, and they’re likely how you found the Ender Dragon in the first place. Ghast Tears, naturally, are dropped by Ghasts, the massive floating monsters that lurk around the Nether spitting fireballs.

Place an Eye of Ender into the center of the crafting table, then place a Ghast Tear below it. After that, fill all remaining sides with glass blocks. When aligned correctly, you’ll craft a single End Crystal. Repeat the process until you have four total.

The rest is easy. Go back through the portal and return to where you fought the Ender Dragon. Once arrived, place a crystal around each outside edge of the exit portal. Each crystal should align with a flat side of the central column — they won’t work if placed on the portal’s corner blocks or on anything other than obsidian or bedrock.

Once that’s done, get ready to run. The four End Crystals will respawn the Ender Dragon as well as its previous End Crystals, then explode shortly afterward. You don’t want to be nearby when that happens. Thankfully, simply respawning the dragon will unlock The End Again achievement.

Of course, there is one final catch. After you respawn the Ender Dragon and its End Crystals, the exit portal will disappear. You’ll need to fight the beast once more to be able to exit the realm. Let’s hope you came ready for a fight. Thankfully, so long as you survive, you can respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft as many times as you like.
