Is the Joker in Suicide Squad 2, or to give the movie its proper title, The Suicide Squad? Given the way the last Suicide Squad Joker appearance went, with him busting Harley Quinn out of Belle Reve, not to mention showing up in Zack Snyder’s Justice League this year, it seems possible that Jared Leto’s Joker could be in the sequel. So is there a The Suicide Squad Joker cameo? Minor spoilers for The Suicide Squad follow!
Is there a The Suicide Squad Joker cameo?
The Joker (Jared Leto) does not make an appearance in The Suicide Squad/Suicide Squad 2, although Harley alludes to her former puddin’ during a speech to Presidente General Silvio Luna (Juan Diego Botto) — who she was beginning a romantic relationship with, and then kills because she felt Luna was going to be another Joker.
Harley was enjoying her time with Presidente Luna and was considering marrying him, but she instead shoots him after he talks about killing children with the help of Starro the Conqueror. Harley says that after her last boyfriend, meaning the Joker, she promised herself she wouldn’t get involved with someone who showed obvious “warning signs” such as killing kids. She is clearly still dealing with the effects of her abusive relationship, as seen in the first Suicide Squad and with immediate aftermath in Birds of Prey. “The cruelty tears you down,” she says. Beyond this though, the Joker plays no part in the events of The Suicide Squad, not even in flashback.
