The cowardly but intelligent Eugene Porter has somehow made it longer than some of his much stronger compatriots, but fans are wondering if his number will be up soon. Going into The Walking Dead’s final season, Eugene has OG status, but it doesn’t change the fact that he hasn’t changed much. Read on to see if we think Eugene will die in The Walking Dead Season 11.
Will Eugene die in The Walking Dead Season 11?
As of episode 5 of The Walking Dead Season 11, Eugene is alive (but in a precarious position).
Eugene probably wouldn’t have won anyone’s “most likely to survive” award back when he was introduced alongside Rosita and Abraham in season 4. However, he’s managed to manipulate others into protecting him since the outbreak began. Originally, Abraham and Rosita saved him because he said he was a government scientist. Despite his lie being found out, the survivors took pity upon him, and his eclectic skillset endeared him as a useful member of the group.
Unfortunately, one of Eugene’s greatest weaknesses is low self-esteem. So when Negan enlists him to begin doing scientific tasks for the Saviors, giving him status and earning him praise, he betrays his former protectors. Only at the last minute does Eugene come to his senses and sabotage the Savior’s war against Alexandria.
In the following seasons after the war with the Saviors, Eugene displays less cowardice. After meeting a girl named Stephanie via radio in Season 10, Eugene convinces everyone he wants to go meet her to forge an alliance with her group (with the encouragement of Carol). While this is partially true, his biggest motivation is that he hopes to have a girlfriend finally.
Surprisingly, Stephanie didn’t turn out to be a trap, and she indeed lives in a technologically advanced settlement called The Commonwealth. Despite being brought into The Commonwealth and given a chance to obtain citizenship, Eugene violates their laws on the first day by attempting to radio Alexandria. As a result, he, Princess, and Ezekiel are placed under arrest.
As of episode 5 of The Walking Dead Season 11, Eugene faces exile from The Commonwealth, which would make his trip for naught.
