New World lag detected

Is there a New World ‘lag detected’ error fix?

Players suffering the New World “lag detected” error are probably desperately hoping for a fix, given that the issue alternates between extremely annoying and making it so they can’t play. Sometimes the full New World “lag detected, you are not allowed to continue playing” error appears and stops players experiencing this from even entering the game. With the MMO out today and everyone keen to play, is there a way to stop these New World connection errors?

New World ‘lag detected’ error — is there a fix?

New World lag detected

To fix the “lag detected” error in New World:

  • Verify the Steam game files. Right-click on New World in the Steam library, select ‘Properties,’ then find the option under ‘Local Files.’
  • Make sure no updates or anything like that are downloading in the background.
  • Do not use a proxy or VPN while playing New World as this can cause connectivity issues.
  • Go to the Windows start menu and start “cmd” then type in “ipconfig/flushdns” to the window. After this has completed successfully, restart the router.
  • Wait. In today’s case in particular, as it is launch day it is most likely that any connection problems will be down to the high numbers of players in New World, and the Amazon servers are likely struggling to accommodate everyone. New World queue times are already exceptionally long, so this might just be one error message that needs waiting out.

Unless players are getting the full “lag detected — you are not allowed to continue playing” error, they should be able to keep playing New World as normal, just with a couple of annoying error messages popping up now and again. Hopefully it will go away when more servers are added.
