New World Transaction Failed

New World ‘Transaction Failed With Error Code 408’ fix

Is there a fix for the New World “Transaction failed with error code 408” problem? Players attempting to use the in-game shop in Amazon’s new MMO are occasionally hitting this irritating New World “transaction status” error message that says that their purchases have failed, despite having plenty of money in their Steam wallet. Given that players only want to give Amazon actual money it’s astonishing this New Worlds “error code 408” problem exists, but is there a fix?

Is there a New World ‘transaction failed’ error fix?

New World Transaction Failed

To fix the error message “Transaction Status: Transaction failed with error code 408” in New World, players have to ensure that the Steam overlay is enabled and functioning correctly.

While in-game press Shift+Tab and it should open the Steam overlay correctly, but if it doesn’t then somehow the overlay has been disabled — and consequently, players cannot make any in-game transactions in the store to buy skins etc. using real-world funds, since this is done entirely using Steam’s charging methods. If the overlay is not currently working, simply exit out of New World and load up the game again.

If the Steam overlay still isn’t working, head out and right-click on New World in the Steam library and choose Properties/General — “Enable Steam overlay while in-game” should be ticked. If it is, then exit out of Steam and restart it, or just restart the PC altogether. Hopefully it should work after this point, otherwise there are clearly issues with the servers that still need sorting out, which may be the case.
