Amazon Game Studios’ hit MMORPG New World allows players to explore a sprawling fantasy realm. However, world traversal itself is a bit on the slow side. Sure would be nice if there were, say, animals or other large creatures you could ride around on, right? But does New World feature rideable mounts? Are there any other ways of moving around more quickly?
Are there ridable mounts in New World?
New World does not currently feature ridable mounts. At least for now, there are no horses or dragons or other creatures you can use to travel more quickly. However, Amazon Game Studios may add mounts to New World later, especially if the world size grows in a future expansion.
Before you get disappointed at the lack of ridable creatures, it’s worth considering what makes New World unique. It’s not a particularly big world, not yet, so nothing is out of reach for players on foot. In fact, there’s no area that you can’t reach through normal progression. There’s basically no need for a mount yet.
Of course, things are likely to change. Amazon is betting big on New World, which means more content is almost sure to release in the future. Especially as an MMO, players will eventually hit the max level cap and run out of things to do. Expansions introduce new content, but also typically introduce new areas, expanding the game’s world. And once the world gets big enough, getting around on foot will become a chore.
We’re not saying it’s inevitable, but as long as the game continues to be a success…. it’s basically inevitable. Mounts aren’t available in New World for now, but they’re certainly not off the table. We’ll be on the lookout for ridable creatures in a future update. In the meantime, let’s try to enjoy all the other charms that Aeternum has to offer.
