Is there a Resident Evil 3 remake Nemesis Edition Directors Cut

Resident Evil 3 Remake Nemesis Edition: Is a Director’s Cut getting a release date soon?

Whisperings of a Resident Evil 3 Nemesis Edition director’s cut have been floating around since a “leak” appeared on 4Chan in September. This purported leak claimed to feature artwork and details about an upgraded version of RE3 Remake that would address criticisms the game faced about cut content. Unfortunately, the artwork was proven to be fake, but there is another clue that might point to the existence of an RE3 Remake director’s cut.

Will there be a Resident Evil 3 remake director’s cut?

Resident Evil 3 directors cut

Capcom hasn’t released any statements concerning a Resident Evil 3 remake director’s cut. In fact, in an interview with Siliconera, producer Peter Fabiano stated bluntly that the game “is a finished product.” Also, given that the leak was proven false, even if an updated version of the game was coming, it most likely wouldn’t be called “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Edition.”

However, there is some evidence that the leak isn’t entirely false. Resident Evil 3 remake has received steady updates to several development and QA branches over the last view months. This is definitely odd, considering the previous patch to the live public version of the game was 13 months ago. This seems to indicate that some sort of update will be coming to the game, but there’s no clue as to what it’ll be. However, several Resident Evil 2 remake branches have been updated in the last month as well, so we may be seeing something as simple as a next-gen upgrade with no added content for both games.

RE3 remake definitely hasn’t aged as well as the RE2 remake. In our review, we pointed out that the cut content was a detriment to the game and removed much of what made the original game so unique. The failure of Resident Evil: Resistance to garner an audience may have Capcom reexamining Resident Evil 3 remake. There’s a lot of money to be made on a $20 or so director’s cut upgrade, and we’re sure that Capcom would love to get RE3 back out there on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the new $69.99 MSRP that next-gen games are retailing at.

We’re going to lean towards there not being a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Edition. Still, it would make financial sense for Capcom. Despite this, the company might not want to free up the manpower that could be used to support DLC for Resident Evil: Village.
