Battlefield 2042 Destruction: Which buildings are destructible

Battlefield 2042 Destruction: Which buildings are destructible and what changes with Levolution?

Battlefield 2042 is the biggest and boldest series entry yet. And, as followers will recall, it’s also said to feature some of the most intense destruction the series has ever seen. That’s all well and good, but what if you want to blow stuff up yourself? Which buildings are destructible? Has Levolution changed any other aspects of environmental damage?

Which buildings are destructible in Battlefield 2042?

If you’ve been playing Battlefield 2042, you’ve probably noticed that not many buildings are destructible. Structures that can be destroyed are so rarely encountered that some players question if there are any at all. Far from the levels of destruction seen in early trailers, most destructible objects are not buildings, but simple walls or flat barriers.

Frankly, it’s all a bit underwhelming. Initial trailers and early looks at Levolution painted the picture of a malleable, warn-torn battleground. The idea was that the earth itself could be ruptured with enough violence. Unfortunately, that’s not really the case.

From what we can tell, Battlefield 2042 barely has any destructible buildings. In fact, destruction is so lacking that players have taken to the BF2042 subreddit to express their disappointment. There’s even a video where one player empties tank rounds at two separate buildings to virtually no effect whatsoever.

Granted, you will occasionally come across walls or barriers that can be destroyed. But it’s a far cry from taking down entire structures. Event-based Levolution destruction is definitely big and flashy, but that level of environmental impact can’t be made with common weapons or artillery. It also doesn’t seem to be available on any of the game’s classic maps.

There are plenty of structures that can be damaged and destroyed, but true destructible buildings are in short supply. A much higher degree of destruction was shown in early Battlefield 2042 trailers, so it’s not exactly clear why it’s pared down so much in the final release. If we’re lucky, maybe the team at DICE will dial up the destruction in a future update.
