Super Mario Odyssey 2 will likely release in 2023 on Nintendo Switch with a Nintendo Direct announcement later this year, perhaps during the E3 showcase around June. There were five years between Super Mario 3D World on Wii U — the previous 3D Mario game — and Super Mario Odyssey so the new Mario game has to be close to completion, but as it hasn’t been announced yet it may not be for another year yet.
Fans are still waiting on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3, and Metroid Prime 4, so Mario will probably be released after at least one of those. The next mainline Mario game will almost certainly not release alongside the Super Mario movie this holiday 2022, although there may be some sort of Mario game re-release planned to coincide with that.

Nintendo games always remain exclusive to Nintendo’s own platforms, and unlike its main competitors Microsoft and Sony, it does not release its games on PC either — at least, not officially. Anyone looking to play the new Super Mario game will have to own the latest Nintendo console.
