Armored Core 6 Release Date

Will there ever be a Armored Core 6 release date?

FromSoftware is most known for the Dark Souls series, but Armored Core was the studio’s signature title before that. However, fans have been waiting for an Armored Core 6 release date for over a decade. With little official word about the status of the franchise, many are wondering if it’s been abandoned.

Armored Core 6 Release Date Speculation

We’ve gotten hints that Armored Core 6 is in development over the years. The latest, in January 2022, states that footage of the game exists and was shown in a consumer survey. However, it didn’t give any hint as to what Armored Core 6’s release date will be. Unfortunately, despite other teases in 2016 and 2018, FromSoftware hasn’t given any official word as to the status of the series.

Unfortunately, none of the seventh-gen Armored Core games have even been ported to current platforms. Additionally, they never made it to the Xbox backward compatibility program. Players can’t even emulate them via Xenia or RPCS3 yet. So, the only way to experience them is on the original hardware. Copies aren’t too rare, but working PS3s and Xbox 360s are dropping in number by the day. Given that the first models of these consoles were notoriously unreliable, some players might be antsy to give them a shot.

The mecha genre is woefully underappreciated, and Armored Core was the only mainstream series for fans to look forward to. Despite the popularity of Gundam and other mecha properties, FromSoftware’s Armored Core, Square Enix’s Front Mission, and Metal Gear are among the only game properties focusing around mecha to last for multiple entries. FromSoftware hasn’t shot down questions about it working on Armored Core in the future, so hopefully we’ll see them return to the franchise after the release of Elden Ring, even if it’s just to port previous titles to current platforms.
