Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Release Date Gets Moved Up

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 just had its release date moved up, which is surprising in an industry that is typically fraught with delays. The game was previously set to release sometime in September 2022, but Nintendo decided to shuffle things around instead of launching it in the fall. Fortunately, the new date falls during a time that is in need of big releases.

What is the new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 release date?

Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s release date is July 29, 2022. The Switch exclusive has been bumped up by two months, which is notable due to how often we see delays. In fact, just recently, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was delayed into 2023, so Nintendo may be shuffling releases forward to fill the gap.

Xenoblade Chronicle 3 was one of the surprise announcements at February 2022’s Nintendo Direct. Beforehand, we had little indicator that it was in the works. However, four and a half years of development time is roughly what previous entries in the series had, so we can probably expect a game on scale with Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

We’re lucky then that the release has been moved up. The previous game was massive in scale and content, and gamers will be relieved to know there aren’t any other major releases scheduled around July 29. However, the Live A Live remake does come out the week before, which might have some players rushing.

A new trailer debuted alongside the release date announcement that gives us a peek at the new cast. Remarkably, players will be able to team up with seven of them at a time, which makes for a huge party. In addition, a collector’s edition was also announced, which is available exclusively through the My Nintendo Store which comes with an artbook and steelbook case.

Fortunately, there’s not long to wait. Again, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 debuts on July 29, 2022.
