Many fans are wondering what happens to Dr. Samuel Owens at the end of Stranger Things Season 4. He’s remained one of Eleven’s most steadfast supporters and has the connections to help protect her and the rest of the Hawkins gang. However, after what happens at the Nina bunker, his future is unsure.
Does Dr. Owens Die in Stranger Things Season 4?
It’s unlikely that Dr. Owens died in Stranger Things Season 4. He’s captured by Lt. Colonel Sullivan’s forces, but there’s no reason for Sullivan to kill or torture Owens as he already knows where Eleven is, and presumably where she’s going. However, there’s no guarantee that Sullivan will let him go either. So more than likely, we’ll see Owens used as leverage in a new scheme to capture or kill Eleven.
It’s possible that Owens and Sullivan served together at some point in the past. He was in the military at some point before he took over Hawkins Lab. That may be where Sullivan ends up taking him, as it’s probably where the final showdown will be between Eleven and Vecna/the Mind Flayer.
Given that Dr. Owens has been one of the few selfless people outside of the main cast, so he might end up sacrificing himself in the end. He still feels guilt over what the government did in Hawkins Lab, and thinks he owes an obligation to Eleven for the pain she experienced there. He also likely holds a grudge against Sullivan for killing the agents he sent to protect Will, Mike, and Jonathan.
For now, we have to assume that Dr. Owens is still in the custody of Sullivan and his faction of the US Army. However, he’s still alive as far as we know, so it’s likely we’ll see him once again in the fifth season. His faction of the government is still watching over the group in Hawkins, so we may see another clash before the story is over.
