This MultiVersus tier list for August 2022 features the best characters for the fighting game’s 1v1 and 2v2 modes as of this month. We’ve created the tier list using a combination of data from the game’s leaderboards along with the most-played champions among its fledgling pro community.
Given that MultiVersus is in open beta and its community is still finding its feet, this tier list is not a definitive assessment of the strongest and weakest characters. Instead, it’s a look at which characters are currently performing the best, and which ones its top players are choosing as their mains in the game’s infancy.
MultiVersus 2v2 best characters tier list
- S-tier: Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, Tom and Jerry
- A-tier: Iron Giant, Reindog, Finn, Superman, Velma
- B-tier: Wonder Woman, Garnet, Lebron James, Batman
- C-tier: Arya Stark, Jake the Dog, Harley Quinn
- D-tier: Taz, Steven Universe
Bugs Bunny is mained by many of MultiVersus’ top players, with most players with the highest MMR using the legendary cartoon character. Shaggy is one of the game’s recommended heroes, his easy-to-learn toolkit being fully taken advantage of by various high MMR players, while Tom and Jerry boast lengthy combo potential.
Elsewhere, Lebron James has a ton of potential though hasn’t been in the game long enough to properly assess where he belongs in the tier list. Other highlights include Iron Giant, a monstrously large character who may be a walking target but can dish out as much damage as he absorbs, and Finn, a highly nimble fighter who is an extremely popular pick.
MultiVersus 1v1 best characters tier list
- S-tier: Bugs Bunny, Superman
- A-tier: Batman, Shaggy
- B-tier: Tom and Jerry, Finn, Wonder Woman, Lebron James, Taz
- C-tier: Jake the Dog, Iron Giant, Arya Stark, Harley Quinn, Velma, Garnet
- D-tier: Reindog, Steven Universe
Bugs Bunny continues to be a great choice in 1v1 matchups, while Superman is also a much more popular pick than he is in 2v2s. The DC superhero is a tank though is also relatively mobile, with him able to grab opponents and fly them off the edge of the stage. Whereas these moves can be interrupted in 2v2s, your opponents have no such luck in 1v1s, making him a formidable foe.
Support characters are less valuable in 1v1s for obvious reasons, with the mode mainly dominated by damage dealers. This means that the likes of Batman and Shaggy also dominate in singles match-ups.
In related news, MultiVersus players have been wondering if Bugs Bunny will receive a nerf in the game. We’ve also compiled a list of MultiVersus mods that equip heroes with different skins.
