Destiny 2 Get Legendary Shards

Destiny 2: How to Get Legendary Shards

In Destiny 2, you get Legendary Shards each time you dismantle a Legendary or Exotic rarity weapon or armor. This is the most common method you’ll obtain shards with, and a great way to farm them is to dismantle all the gear you don’t need. You’ll find yourself continually getting Legendary gear, and there’s really no reason to hold on to most of it. However, there are a bunch of other ways to get shards as well, which are useful when you’ve got no more Legendary gear to dismantle.

How to Farm Legendary Shards in Destiny 2

You can get Legendary Shards in Destiny 2 by dismantling Legendary and Exotic gear, so farming engrams is an excellent way to get shards. However, there are a lot more ways you can farm Legendary Shards as well:

  • Complete weekly Nightfalls
  • Loot Lost Sector Chests
  • Loot planetary chests
  • Loot Raid Chests
  • Rare drop from Strike bosses

Note that ways to get Legendary Shards are routinely being added and removed from Destiny 2. Before the Tangeled Shore was vaulted, you could exchange planetary materials for shards, but that option is no longer available. So, the list above isn’t exhaustive. Make sure to keep an eye on what rewards you receive from activities because Bungie may add a shard payout to them.
