Valve Boss Addresses Half-Life’s Future

Half-Life fans have been patient for years, waiting with bated breath in the hopes of a new entry in Valve's beloved first-person shooter franchise. The second episode of Half-Life 2 left players on one heck of a cliffhanger, so there's got to be more to the story… right?

Well, Valve boss and co-founder Gabe Newell recently spoke with Geoff Keighley on the GameSlice podcast, in which he discussed the future of game development at the studio and whether or not we'll ever get more Half-Life.

"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it," he said. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice. So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean."

So it still doesn't look like we have a firm answer one way or another. At least there's still hope, right? Still, I don't know how much more my aching heart can take. Give me more Half-Life, Valve! Please?!
