Bossa head and co-founder Henrique Olifiers, in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, forsees an inevitable doom for social games, a surprise considering that Bossa Studios' first title Monstermind is an real-time strategy title for Facebook:
Social games for me were always on the cutting-edge until they became copycat, and after they became copycat I said, "Well, this is not going anywhere."This will be like the Atari Eighties crash. Everybody and their grandmother had a version of Space Invaders, and these guys are going to do the same thing.
Innovation is incredibly difficult in the social game space, particularly when successful, bite-sized games are easy to duplicate. Case in point: Tiny Towers. But that's just one case in a sea of many.
