Bethesda has announced that Shinji Mikami and his new studio, Tango Gameworks, is developing a "pure" survival horror game. And not some bullshit action-horror game, codename 'Zwei' will push "the limits of fear and exhilaration". The first image of the game can be seen above (click image for full size).
Mikami explains his vision, calling Zwei a "true ‘survival horror’ … in which the player confronts and overcomes fear”, continuing, “I've found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured.”
If anyone knows how to create fear in a survival horror game, it's Mikami; having created the original Resident Evil after being dissatisfied with a 1979 Italian horror film called 'Zombi 2'. And because Mikami revealed that his next game would be his last as director shortly after the announcement of ZeniMax (Bethesda's parent company) acquiring his new studio, he's likely to go out with a bang.
