Shenmue 3 producer Cedric Biscay has told fans to expect “many other surprises” related to the game in 2018, while also suggesting that the PS4 and PC versions of the game will both release in 2018.
Biscay, who runs Shenmue 3‘s production company Shibuya Productions, tweeted out a New Year message to his followers pointing towards the game’s 2018 release window on the PS4 and PC. In that message he also suggested that more exciting news lies just around the corner for Shenmue fans:
I wish you a Happy New Year ! All the best for 2018 ! It will be great with the #Shenmue3 release on #PS4 and #PC and many other surprises 🙂 pic.twitter.com/DKvos1jNg9

With development on Shenmue 3 having been notably slow, many were concerned that the PC version of the game could be a rushed port. However, Biscay’s comments suggest that the PS4 and PC versions are being developed simultaneously, meaning that they could share the same release date.
Considering that Shenmue 3 is slated to release later this year, we’ve seen very little footage of the game thus far. Funded by Shibuya Productions, Sony and a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, it is hoped that the the highly anticipated game will be able to live up to fans’ expectations.
