Rumor: New Crash Bandicoot Game Coming in 2019, N. Sane Trilogy Releasing on Switch

A merchandising manager has claimed that a brand new Crash Bandicoot game will be released in 2019, while Switch and PC versions of the N. Sane Trilogy are also reportedly on their way.

Max Arguile, the licensing manager of the UK-based merch retailer GB eye, suggested that Activision is not only working on a brand new Crash Bandicoot game but that the publisher will also bring the 2017 remastered trilogy to new platforms.

Speaking in the new Licensing Source Book Europe for DHX Brands, Max said: “The new game was a huge success at retail with no marketing spend. Next year it will be going broader (Switch and PC) and there will be another game in 2019.”

He continued: “Activision have a five year for this and GB eye is delighted to be fully on board for all products.”

While the N. Sane Trilogy‘s success means that it’s more than likely that Activision is planning a future for the platforming series, there has been no confirmation that a new game is on its way. It’s unclear if Max has the relevant insider info, but GB eye does stock plenty of Crash Bandicoot merchandise, so the store risking its professional partnership with Activision for a comment in a licensing industry book seems unnecessarily risky if his claim turns out to be false.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was released exclusively on the PS4 back in June 2017, but it has been suggested that the game was a timed exclusive, meaning that it would eventually come to other consoles. While that has yet to be the case, with the game achieving such a high number of sales, Activision would inevitably want to bring it to other platforms. If Max’s comments are to be believed, then it could be that Sony allowed Activision to do so, as long as the publisher didn’t strike up a deal to release the collection on Xbox One.
