Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro has announced The Missing, a new game by his studio White Owls, in collaboration with Arc System Works. The Missing is slated to be released in Spring 2018.
In his announcement video, Swery says that the title of the game, The Missing, has many meanings. It could be a missing person, someone who is lost, or even the loss of something. He also says “Maybe it’s a loved one or a place where you belong. Do you ever feel lost in your everyday life? The Missing is for someone like you.”
The Missing will be the first ever game to be released by Swery’s studio White Owls, which was founded in 2016 after he left developer Access Games. Their official slogan, as stated on their website, is “From Osaka to all of YOU around the World.” The first game developed by White Owls, The Good Life, failed in its first crowdfunding campaign in 2017. However, the developer has announced a new Kickstarter campaign for The Good Life, which will be launching on March 26th, 2018. It will be co-developed by G-rounding Inc.
Arc System Works will publish The Missing. The Japanese developer/publisher was founded in 1988 by Minoru Kidooka. It is best known for its arcade fighting game franchises, Guilty Gear, and BlazBlue, as well as the recent highly-successful Dragon Ball FighterZ.
