The latest Nvidia driver update 391.01 is available to download and install, offering improvements to the likes of PUBG.
Nvidia graphics card users will notice increased performance in PUBG, Final Fantasy 15, and World of Tanks 1.0. The new Nvidia driver also prepares GPU hardware for the upcoming Warhammer Vermintide 2, which is set to launch on March 8.
Focusing on PUBG‘s improved performance, which is a notoriously demanding and stutter-prone title, we can see from the chart compiled by Nvidia using an i7-7820X @ 3.6GHz and 32GB DDR4 @ 2666MHz, that the 390.01 driver leads to gains of between 3 percent and 7 percent.
Video Card | 1920×1080 | 2560×1440 | 3840×2160 |
---|---|---|---|
GTX 1050 | 7% | – | – |
GTX 1060 (3GB) | 5% | 6% | – |
GTX 1060 (6GB) | 5% | 6% | – |
GTX 1070 | 5% | 5% | 6% |
GTX 1070 Ti | 4% | 5% | 6% |
GTX 1080 | 3% | 7% | 7% |
GTX 1080 Ti | 5% | 5% | 7% |
Though the percentages may seem minor, these boosts could help struggling systems breach the 60fps point, allowing for a more consistently smooth experience, which will definitely lead to more enjoyment.
As detailed in the Nvidia driver update 391.01 release notes, the new update fixes dynamic reflections in BeamNG, flickering shadows in Call of Duty: WWII, shutdown and boot issues, and other card-specific problems.
As always, I’d recommend downloading and installing the latest Nvidia driver update as soon as possible. Display Driver Uninstaller is my go-to for a mess-free installation. (No sponsor or affiliation, I just want to make sure you have the best experience!)
