Pokemon Go Adds Two New Generation Three Legendary Pokemon for You to Catch

Niantic has announced that Pokemon Go will add two new legendary Pokemon from its Generation 3 roster. Latios and Latias will be available soon for all players to catch starting from April 12th, 2018. The Pokemon Go developer is going for a different approach this time. Both Latios and Latias become available at the same time but each one is only available in different parts of the globe for at one time. This means that Latios can only be found in North America, South America, and Africa while Latias only appears in European and Asian regions. This will be the case from now until May 8th, 2018.

Pokemon Go players shouldn’t start booking flights to the other side of the world to catch the other legendary Pokemon just yet. After May 8th, Latios and Latias will switch regions and remain in those parts of the world until June 5th, 2018.

Similar to other legendary Pokemon introduced in the past, Latios and Latias are available to catch via Raid Battles in Gyms. Players are required to find other Pokemon trainers to battle the legendary Pokemon and earn the opportunity to catch them once they have been defeated.

To aid Pokemon Go players in battling and capturing both legendary Pokemon, Niantic will add Dark and Fairy-type Pokemon like Tyranitar and Mawile in Raid Battles. This will certainly help players assemble a team to counter Latos and Latias, which are dual Psychic/Dragon types.

In other related news, Niantic recently introduced other fan-favorite legendary Pokemon as well, including fellow Generation 3 legendaries like Kyogre and Rayquaza. Unfortunately, these were also available for a limited time only, as Kyogre and Rayqauza were gone by February 14th and March 16th, respectively.

During April Fool’s Day recently, we reported that Niantic altered the visuals of Pokemon Go into a retro 8-bit style as a prank marking the occasion. The 8-bit style reverts back to the usual graphics on April 7th, so players will have to be quick to take advantage of the nostalgic throwback before it’s too late.
