Sure, reading beautiful art books isn’t exactly up there with cow-rustling and tobacco chewing on a wannabe cowboy’s to-do list – but it should be. The Art of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been leaked on Amazon, and it promises to be the perfect complement to Red Dead Redemption 2 and its gun-slinging in the West come October.
Currently listed at $27.30 on Amazon, The Art of Red Dead Redemption 2 will mark Rockstar’s first foray into a video game artbook collection, following in the well-worn tracks of the likes of Hyrule Historia and Bethesda’s gorgeous works.
That’s not all. The official item description hints at never-before-seen levels of openness from Rockstar, as well as a possible hint at which century the game takes place in

A first for this secretive company, Rockstar Games has released storyboards and behind-the-scenes inner workings of the game’s creation, with a mix of detailed original art, concept, story, and character studies, sketches, and actual screengrabs of the end result that led to the creation of this spectacular game.’
While I’m sure everyone (rightfully) is getting a little hot under the collar at a glimpse behind the curtain of Rockstar, it’s the reference to the turn of the twentieth century that’s caught my eye. The game’s time period has been up for debate for some time, but this appears to shorten the timeframe to sometime between 1895-1905.
The Art of Red Dead Redemption 2 – should the item not be an incorrect listing – is slated for release on October 30, 2018.
