Microsoft is preparing for E3 2018 by revealing several milestones achieved by the Xbox brand over the past year. Many notable events happened throughout that duration. The company officially launched the Xbox One X, which is purportedly the most powerful console ever made. Several major games have also been released in that time, including Sea of Thieves and PUBG.
Xbox E3 2018: New Games To Be Announced?
The company announced its many accomplishments and achievements in a news post via Xbox Wire earlier today. The most interesting part of the post reads: “As we get ready to share a fantastic lineup of new games for Xbox players at E3 2018, we want to take a moment to thank them for a record-setting start to the year.” That’s as good a confirmation as any that we will be seeing new unannounced games at E3 2018.
Xbox E3 2018: Breaking Sales Records
It also revealed that Xbox Live players and Xbox One sales have increased 13 and 15 percent, respectively, over the same period in the previous year. There are now more than 200 games featuring Xbox One X enhancements, including Fortnite and Far Cry 5. The post also mentions Sea of Thieves, which broke two records for Microsoft and Xbox recently.
Xbox E3 2018: Billions of Hours Played
Additionally, it turns out that Xbox players have spent over four billion hours on games released through the ID@Xbox program and almost one billion hours on games in the Xbox One Backward Compatibility library. The latter is unsurprising since the company has added many iconic titles from the original Xbox console era, which include the likes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Psychonauts.
In other related news, Xbox Head Phil Spencer recently revealed on Twitter that the company will probably be showing its support for more Japanese publishers at E3 2018. We might be seeing new major JRPGs for the Xbox for the first time since Final Fantasy XV. Before E3 2018 officially starts, Microsoft will hold the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing, which will take place on June 10th, 2018.
