Code Vein Release Date Delayed Until 2019

Bandai Namco‘s upcoming Souls-like Code Vein has been delayed to 2019. News of the delay came via a press release by Bandai Namco earlier today. The game has been delayed until 2019, though there is no precise release date.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s Vice President of Marketing Eric Hartness released a statement alongside the press release.

CODE VEIN has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months. Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of CODE VEIN to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one.”

Bandai Namco’s decision to delay the game could work out for them. The game was originally going to release in September, a month that is crowded with releases. The last quarter of the year is usually packed with game releases and 2018 is no different. In October we have Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Battlefield 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. A new IP like Code Vein is unlikely to stand a chance against these giants.

As mentioned in the statement by Hartness, Code Vein is being delayed so they can further “refine its gameplay.” It’s always good to see a developer wanting to deliver the best they can. In order to produce a quality title, a delay is sometimes required.

Code Vein was announced last year and many people saw the game as “anime souls.” Since its reveal, the game has been showing more of the unique features that separate it from Dark Souls.

Code Vein was originally going to release on September 27th in Japan with the Western release of the game coming the day after. Code Vein is now scheduled to release in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
