New Chucklefish Game Inmost Announced, Is a Story-Driven Puzzle Platformer

Chucklefish have announce a brand new game, Inmost, as the latest addition to their long line of 2D pixellated published titles. The London-based publisher has partnered up with developer Hidden Layer Games to bring the story-driven, puzzle platformer into the mainstream and players won’t have to wait long until they are able to get their hands on the atmospheric title.

Taking to their official blog on Thursday, Chucklefish revealed more about Inmost – set for release on PC – and what gamers can expect from it. Set partly in an old, abandoned castle, Inmost sees gamers alternate between three playable characters – a swordsman, a bearded old man and a young girl – who all possess their own traits and characteristics that offer unique play styles throughout the story.

Set across two vastly different worlds, yet connected by the same dark, interconnected story, players must traverse a variety of environments, take on or evade evil spirits and uncover a plot that is steeped in familial bonds, suffering and sacrifice.

Inmost is the brainchild of Lithuanian video game developer Hidden Layer Games, whose two-man team – artist Alexey Testov and programmer Andriy Vinchovskiy – have built the title from the ground up before Chucklefish’s intervention and subsequent deal to publish the game. It was voted as the ‘Best Indie Game’ at the DevGamm conference in Minsk, Belarus in 2017 and gamers will now have the chance to play it themselves at EGX 2018, the largest video game event in the UK, at the NEC Arena in Birmingham between 20th and 23rd September.

Players can drop by Chucklefish’s booth at any point across the four-day event, meet the developer team themselves and try out the playable demo to get an idea on how Inmost will play. Chucklefish, a renowned indie game developer in their own right, are best known for their partnership with Eric Barone and the critically-acclaimed farming simulator Stardew Valley.
