The sprawling Red Dead Redemption 2 map is so large that it seemingly includes the entirety of the first Red Dead Redemption‘s map. The news comes by way of Dutch site Insider Gamer, which was then reported by Gearnuke.
Inside Gamer’s interview was built from questions asked by members of its community, with the writer giving answers based on what they played and what Rockstar employees told them during their preview. The (translated) question asked if Armadillo and New Austin were in the game. To which the response was “Yup! Upon inquiring with Rockstar I was told that the full map of Red Dead Redemption is also in this game.”
The writer noted that in their hands-on preview they didn’t see much of the map, and called the city of Blackwater “gigantic.” It is unclear if regions of Mexico will be in the game, although that seems to be the case.
Some fans believe that Armadillo was teased in the latest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. A shot in the trailer contains two similar looking buildings to ones found in Armadillo during the first Red Dead Redemption. Armadillo is in New Austin county, which makes up a majority of the United States portion of Red Dead Redemption‘s map. Blackwater, the largest city in Red Dead Redemption has been seen and suggests that the West Elizabeth territory is in the Red Dead Redemption 2 map.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will have a gargantuan install size. The title has an install size of over 100GB on the PS4 Pro, and will have similar sizes on other systems. The game’s vast map will likely account for some of that size. Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on October 26, and sees players in the boots of Arthur Morgan. Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are on the run from the law and must traverse the American heartland to escape. Red Dead Redemption 2 is set in 1899 and features many returning faces including John and Abigail Marston. It is a prequel to the 2010 title.
