Popular Resident Evil 2 character Ada Wong technically isn’t playable in the new remake. However, thanks to the wonderful world of PC modding, anything is possible. A mod has already been released that will allow you to play as the popular fan favorite character Ada Wong in the Resident Evil 2 remake.
The mod in question will swap playable character Claire Redfield for Ada, essentially replacing her in all chapters. No new moves or weapons are included; it is essentially Clare Redfield in an Ada Wong costume. While making her debut in Resident Evil 2 as a supporting character, there is no way to actually play as Wong in the game. She would later on be playable in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 6, among other titles.
Other notable mods that have been released in the last week include playing the game with Leon Kennedy’s reporter outfit seen during one part of the game’s story (complete with jacket physics that make it swoosh in all the right places) and a reshader mod that somehow does the impossible: Make Resident Evil 2 even scarier thanks to the darker, more dramatic lighting.
There has been plenty of Resident Evil 2 buzz since its release on January 25th. The game earned GameRevolution’s top honors, earning a 5 out of 5 rating. It has also done extremely well in sales so far, becoming Capcom’s biggest release since 2017. It even topped this past week’s sales in the UK, beating Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for the top spot.
A demo was released prior to the game’s release which also became a massive success, being downloaded over one million times. A very small amount of that number, just 300,000, actually made it to the end of the 30 minute demo.
Free DLC is coming next month that will explore three stories of those who didn’t survive the Raccoon City invasion, creating “what if” scenarios. That will be released on February 15.
