Overwatch Paris map now live on PTR

Overwatch is known for its diverse roster and its wide array of maps. And it has just added one more location to that lineup of iconic areas. The Overwatch Paris map is now live on the PTR despite the lack of much warning from Blizzard. Since the PTR is exclusive to the PC, console players will have to wait until it hits the live servers.

The official Overwatch account posted a vague tweet stating that “Chance encounters lead to novel beginnings.” Players then noticed that the tease was actually live now on the PTR and is a 2CP map like Anubis and Volskaya Industries where one team tries to capture two separate points as the other team defends it. These are also called “Assault” maps.

Blizzard hasn’t released a trailer for the map yet, but gave a quick description in the PTR’s brief patch notes:

“Begin your journey at the Cabaret Luna, where the velvety alto voice of preeminent diva Luna charms movie stars, revolutionaries, locals, and tourists alike. After the encore, step outside to see the sights and seize victory. Artisanal shops line the streets as you approach the first point, so duck in to sample a macaron or escape enemy fire. Battle through alleys and corridors before clashing with your foes on the banks of the Seine. Once you establish dominance over your adversaries, make your way to Maison Marat and deliver the coup-de-grâce.”

This is technically the second map to take place in France as the Château Guillard arena is also in the same country as it is Widowmaker’s family’s mansion. However, it is exclusive to the Deathmatch in the Arcade.

There is no release date for the map’s release on the live servers. Going from the PTR to the live servers can sometimes take months as evidenced by the most recent maps. For example, Blizzard World hit the PTR on November 20, 2017 and didn’t come out on the live servers until January 23, 2018. Rialto released on the PTR on April 19, 2018 then the live servers on May 3, 2018. And the Busan map was on the PTR on August 22, 2018 and then the live servers on September 12, 2018. Judging by those dates, the Overwatch Paris map will likely take at least a few weeks to jump off the PTR.
