Soon after the release of the Crash Bandicoot remake, it became clear that there was definitely an appetite for the return of the orange marsupial. The title hit the top of the UK charts immediately. Now, Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy sales since release have reportedly hit over 10 million.
The news was reported via Twitter by games industry analyst Daniel Ahmad:

Daniel Ahmad followed up the statistic by providing some context to the numbers by stating, “For reference, the original Crash Bandicoot sold 6.8 million units on PlayStation.”
This means that, since 2017, the remake has already sold more than the original title has in its lifespan. The sales figures match up to the game’s reception. When the Nintendo Switch version was released, our review called the remake “a loving remaster of a series of fan-favorite games.”
The successful Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy sales figures explain Activision’s desire to continue with this route of remaking popular original PlayStation titles. The publisher followed up on the Crash Bandicoot remake with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. This game was also received well, with the title taking a place on our best of 2018 list. After the Crash Bandicoot remake was finally released on the Nintendo Switch, eager fans were clamoring for Spyro to be given the same treatment.
Activision isn’t done yet either. Later this year will see the release of another Crash remake, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. A gameplay trailer was recently released providing fans with a taste of what is to come. The remake will feature all the modes from the original, from Adventure and Time Trials to Cup Race and Battle Mode. Crash Team Racing Nitro-fueled is slated to be released on July 21 on the Switch, PS4, and Xbox One.
