Aside from showing up in trailers and leaks, the Mortal Kombat 11 Kotal Kahn stream has finally showed how the Outworld Emperor will play. But the stream also debuted Jacqui Briggs, who is another returning face that has been previously confirmed but not shown extensively.
Kotal Kahn, like the rest of the revealed cast, seems to have a moveset that a bit different than his past iterations but still faithful to it. He still uses his big ol’ sword to hit things, which is the mantra for MK11. Characters are more prone to use their weapons in this game almost like a Soul Calibur game, but, of course, with more gore. He is slower and was described as a “grappler and absolute brawler.” Kotal Kahn also can turn into a cat because of course he can.
Jacqui Briggs also appears to have a similar moveset but in a way faithful to Mortal Kombat 11‘s approach to weapons. She seems to use her super gauntlets and boots to augment her attacks, giving her more flashy animations. But her attacks borrow from Muay Thai, which means she is less about zoning (like she was in MKX) and more about a close-range game. Her different moves can make her more of a grappler too.
This stream comes after a brief tease on the Mortal Kombat Twitter account where Kotal Kahn is visible for a few frames at the end of the embedded video. The video, however, did not tease Jacqui Briggs as being part of the stream although NetherRealm did confirm that two characters would be shown on the stream.
The official Mortal Kombat 11 Kotal Kahn and Jacqui Briggs gameplay reveals have given us more detailed looks at more fighters that are being added to the expanding roster on almost a weekly basis. They join the cast of returning fighters from Mortal Kombat X, which includes Cassie Cage and Erron Black (so far).
These streams come alongside other streams for other characters. Jade, Kabal, Kano, Johnny Cage, and Cassie Cage have all gotten stream breakdowns in the previous weeks. And given how Baraka was included in one of those streams shows that NetherRealm is likely planning on doubling up these big livestreams in order to show more of the cast in a condensed period.
There’s even going to be another reveal on March 22 that will show a new character, behind the scenes videos, more story content, and who the game’s first DLC character will be.
