Update: CD Projekt Red has clarified that translations of the Bankier article (originally published in Polish) incorrectly indicated that studio is working on three Cyberpunk-universe projects.
When Polygon reached out to CD Projekt for comment on the Bankier article, CD Projekt Red told the publication that three of its studios are working on Cyberpunk 2077, one is working on Gwent and one is working on an unannounced mobile project.
Polygon asked the company if there were any plans for another CD Projekt game set in the Cyberpunk universe, but a representative said only that the company did not have more comments on the topic.
Original Article: If you’re excited for more Cyberpunk, CD Projekt Red has you covered three times over. The studio is currently working on three Cyberpunk 2077 related projects. However, details were scant on what these projects are.
According to a report by Bankier, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński confirmed that one of these projects is the already announced Cyberpunk 2077 while the other two will be set in the Cyberpunk universe. Specifics on those projects are sparse. One of these projects is multiplayer-focused and is being developed by CD Projekt Red’s Wroclaw studio. The second project will be the developer’s “next big project,” according to CD Projekt Red’s Vice President Piotr Nielubowicz.
“Our next big project will also be in the Cyberpunk universe, and we’re already working on it and treating it as a really big and innovative project for us,” says Nielubowicz according to a translation. This unnamed project is supposedly slated for a 2021 release.
CD Projekt Red is still developing new content for its successful card game Gwent, which will be coming to mobile platforms this fall. Additionally, there is another game from Polish mobile game studio Spokko that has yet to be announced. All in all, there are five teams currently developing different projects. When we will hear about these new Cyberpunk games is still a mystery, but now we know what to expect from the Polish developer for the foreseeable future.
Cyberpunk 2077 will launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on April 16, 2020, as was revealed at the Xbox E3 2019 press conference. The reveal itself was presented by Keanu Reeves (John Wick, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure) who will be playing Johnny Silverhand, an NPC in the upcoming RPG. How prominent that role will be is still unknown, but some people found it breathtaking.
Anyone planning on grabbing Cyberpunk 2077 will also have to start clearing some space on their hard drive. The game will take, at least, 70GB of space depending on your platform of choice.
