A Death Stranding deepfake video has come out just in time for the official launch of the game. In a showcase of technological power and creativity, one talented YouTuber has used the power of deepfake technology to show Hideo Kojima playing every character in Death Stranding.
Hideo Kojima’s newest game Death Stranding has finally arrived for gamers around the world and it hasn’t even taken a day for the memes to start a-flyin’. YouTuber iFake has created a Death Stranding deepfake video, melding Hideo Kojima’s face with that of every single one of the game’s characters.

The Death Stranding deepfake video opens up with an equally-fake quote purportedly from Hideo Kojima:
“TO SEE ME IN A GRAIN OF SAND.
AND INSIDE A WILD FLOWER.
MY INFINITY IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND.
DEATH TO KONAMI.”
-HIDEO KOJIMA
From there, we see Lindsey Wagner’s character Amerigo “Amelie” Strand standing on a beach, an image that’s well familiar to anyone who has kept up with the Death Stranding trailers released over the last several months. She then turns around only to reveal that Hideo Kojima’s face has replaced hers, making for a rather amusing (and mildly terrifying) image.
The trailer then continues on as normal, featuring several other scenes from Death Stranding, but replacing the character’s faces with that of Hideo Kojima and replacing the quotes with fitting parodies.
The feat may have been accomplished through the use of something called DeepFake technology, a video manipulation technique that uses artificial intelligence to transpose an image onto another object. The tech became famous (or perhaps infamous) for its use in adult entertainment, but it’s also found a home in meme culture with videos such as this silly creation from YouTube iFake.
I’m sure there are plenty of us out there shipping packages and having fun reconnecting America. If you’re looking for a fun way to take a break, you can watch the Death Stranding deepfake video below.
