A new rumor suggests that Resident Evil 8 is to be called Resident Evil Village, and that it will feature one of the series’ most enduring heroes, Chris Redfield. The leaker claims that the new game will take place in Europe, with a new primary enemy type in the form of a witch.
There have been plenty of rumors circulating Resident Evil 8, including that the game will adopt a first-person view similar to the last mainline entry in the series, and that it will release in 2021.
Now BiohazardCast has received an anonymous email with more alleged details, which Resident Evil leaker AestheticGamer — who previously revealed accurate details about the Resident Evil 3 remake — has claimed are true.
Just gonna' say this now, I know some won't believe it until they see it, but it's gonna' end up being real.

The biggest news from the leak is that the game will be known as Resident Evil Village, with a witch villain who takes control of insects. This new enemy type apparently has a distinctive laugh and is similar to Resident Evil 7‘s Marguerite.

Chris Redfield will allegedly return, though his character model has been redesigned since his appearance at the end of Resident Evil 7. He is said to appear in flashbacks involving Ethan, Mia, and their new baby.
Capcom is said to be looking at bringing back inventory management, and the developer is apparently testing both a Resident Evil 7 UI and a Resident Evil 4 interface, too.
Resident Evil Village will also reportedly feature hallucinations that will make it difficult for the player to gauge what’s real and what isn’t. Considering that Chris Redfield is reportedly depicted as shooting at Ethan and Mia in one of the flashbacks, it could be that these hallucinations have affected the RE veteran.
The new Resident Evil is reportedly set to release in 2021, which would indicate that it will launch on next-gen consoles the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Capcom hasn’t made an official announcement related to Resident Evil 8 yet, so all of this information remains unverified. However, with a prominent Resident Evil leaker claiming that they are true, the information seems plausible enough to be correct. With Capcom having just released the Resident Evil 3 remake into the wild, hopefully we’ll receive some RE8 details in the near future.
