A Spider-Man: Miles Morales Into the Spider-Verse suit was revealed today in a new video. The new Miles Morales costume in the Spider-Man PS5 game purposefully uses a lower framerate to emulate the Into the Spider-Verse movie, but players won’t be stuck with choppy graphics if they don’t like this aesthetic.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s Production Designer Justin K. Thompson explains how they wanted to give Miles Morales his “own unique style of animation” for the film in a new video; the characters in the movie are animated in an intentionally-lower framerate. That same style will be replicated with a new Miles Morales suit in the standalone Spider-Man PS5 game.
Two ways to play with Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Into the Spider-Verse suit
Following the opening from Justin K. Thompson, the video jumps right into the action. Miles Morales sails through the city in his new suit. It’s not long before the lower framerate of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Into the Spider-Verse suit is evident. The majority of the top comments praise the style of the character, but some players have expressed that they are not fond of the style.
Fortunately, players don’t have to use the lower framerate of this new suit. Insomniac Games’ Community Director James Stevenson addressed the issue on Twitter, explaining to fans that this was an optional feature that can be disabled at any time.

The disparity between the game’s smooth framerate and the lower framerate of the suit was highlighted by some players on the other side of the argument — what should a player do if they wanted the game to better match the Into the Spider-Verse aesthetic?
The solution lies in the graphical options provided to players for next-gen games. Titles such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart require the player to choose between 4K resolution and 30 FPS or a lower resolution and 60 FPS. According to the latest issue of Game Informer, a 4K/30 FPS “Fidelity Mode” will be available alongside a 4K/60 FPS “Performance Mode.” As with most other next-gen games, this will allow players to make the choice between better graphics or a higher framerate.
These two graphical modes give players a choice for how they want the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Into the Spider-Verse suit to look; players can use Fidelity Mode to better match the suit’s lower framerate or they can use Performance Mode to have a smooth, next-gen experience. Either way, players will have to pre-order the game on PS4 or PS5 to unlock the new Into The Spider-Verse suit.
