The first trailer for the upcoming The Witcher anime movie, Nightmare of the Wolf, is here, with cast information and a release date. On top of that, it contains one hell of a bathtub scene. Despite being animated, the trailer shows off the main character, Vesemir, shirtless in a bath. It’s already looking to rival the fan reaction to Henry Cavill’s topless scenes in the Netflix show, and Geralt’s bathing scenes in The Witcher games.
The Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf Netflix anime movie coming soon
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will release on Netflix on August 23, 2021.
Nightmare of the Wolf takes place several decades before season one of The Witcher Netflix show. It follows Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, on an adventure as he wrangles with his Witcher powers. The new trailer, released today, has everything you’d expect from a Witcher project. We’ve got magic powers, mythical creatures – and of course, a topless bath scene. Fan reaction to the reveal on Twitter has been particularly positive:
Oh he’s so HOT!! Totally crushing on him 🥰🥰🥰

On top of this fan-favorite sequence, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf trailer also gave us our first information on the voice cast. While Kim Bodnia will play Vesemir in season 2 of the live-action show, he’s being voiced by Divergent star Theo James in this movie. We’ve also got Laura Pulver as the sorceress Tetra, and Mary McDonnell as noblewoman Lady Zerbst. Graham McTavish rounds off the cast as the Witcher leader, Deglan.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf cast
- Theo James as Vesemir
- Laura Pulver as Tetra
- Mary McDonnell as Lady Zerbst
- Graham McTavish as Deglan
The big question on everyone’s minds, though, is whether the upcoming bathtub scene will top those that have come before. To prepare for the show’s scene, Henry Cavill dehydrated for 3 days to get the perfect Witcher look. It’ll be fascinating to see how Netflix handles Vesemir’s scene.
In other news, the Switch Online games for July have been announced – and they’re slightly underwhelming. We’ve also got the lowdown on how to play Tom Clancy’s xDefiant early.
