Last Mr Sakurai Presents Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Next month’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stream will be the last one

The sun is about to set on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The final Mr. Sakurai Presents stream is scheduled for next month. There, we’ll learn who the final DLC fighter for Smash Bros. Ultimate, and get details on the final Mii Fighter costumes.

Will Super Smash Bros. Ultimate get any more updates after the last DLC fighter?

As this has been announced as the final stream, we can assume that Smash Bros. Ultimate won’t be receiving further content updates. It’ll likely continue to receive some support in the form of balancing patches and bug fixes, and we may see some repeated events pop up over time. However, it’s highly unlikely that there will be new content coming to the game.

It’s been almost three years since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate released, so it’s no surprise that development will finally be winding down. The Switch itself is nearly five years old, which means Nintendo is likely setting its sights on future hardware.

It’s almost a given that the Smash Bros. series will continue. It’s one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises. The big question now is whether or not Masahiro Sakurai will be returning to direct the next Smash Bros. It’s known that Sakurai has some health problems and that developing a game is stressful work.

Sakurai confirmed that the next character would be the last during a stream showing off Kazuya Mishima. It was also revealed that there would not be a Fighters Pass Vol. 3 in the future.

We don’t have a firm release date for the last Smash Ultimate fighter DLC yet. However, according to advertising, all Challenger Packs from Fighters Pass Vol. 2 will be distributed by 12/31/2021. So, we’ll see the final fighter by the end of the year.

You can tune into the final Mr. Sakurai Presents for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 5 at 7 AM PT/10 AM ET.
