Super Fantasy Zone Amongst Three Genesis Games Added to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack

Those who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will be able to make use of an expanded SEGA Genesis library with three new games. Super Fantasy Zone, Alien Soldier, and Light Crusader will all be added to the Expansion Pack taking the total number of SEGA Genesis games in the collection beyond 20.

When are the new SEGA Genesis games being released?

Super Fantasy Zone, Alien Soldier, and Light Crusader were the new Genesis games added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on March 16. Alien Soldier is a side-scrolling run and gun game where Epsilon-Eagle must save his planet from evil grinning creatures that have already tried to kill him once. Light Crusader is an isometric RPG where a knight called Sir David is asked by the king of Green Row to search for townspeople who have been mysteriously disappearing. Finally, Super Fantasy Zone is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up where Opa-Opa seeks to avenge the death of his father who perished while fighting the Dark Menon.

The new trio join 19 other SEGA Genesis games in the collection, including titles such as Altered Beast, Castlevania: Bloodline, Contra: Hard Corps, Ecco the Dolphin, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star 4, Shinobi 3, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, and ToeJam & Earl. You can find the full list on Nintendo’s website.

Nintendo hadn’t mentioned there were more Genesis games to be added to the collection, but with games constantly being added to the Nintendo 64 library, we’re not surprised. Three more N64 titles have been promised to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack soon – Pokemon Snap, Mario Golf, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards – although Nintendo hasn’t said when that will be.

In other news, Diablo II: Resurrected has a free trial currently running on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The trial limits players to three hours with the game but is available until March 21. Elsewhere, the Wordle Archive site has been taken down following a copyright request from new owner the New York Times.
