New Xbox Series X|S and PS5 Pro Reportedly Coming Sooner Than Thought

While many people are still unable to get their hands on an Xbox Series X|S or Playstation 5 console, some believe Microsoft and Sony are already preparing for the half-generation of each console with a brand new model. In a recent tech presentation, TCL revealed they’re preparing for a new Xbox Series X|S console and the PS5 Pro to be released in 2023/4.

The likelihood of a new Xbox Series X|S or PS5 Pro

The latest rumors come from an unusual source. TCL Technology was showing off their latest television sets at a conference in Poland when they revealed they were preparing for the arrival of the PS5 Pro and New Xbox Series X|S consoles. As reported by PPE (thanks Tom Henderson), TCL is expecting this half-generation of consoles to arrive in 2023 or 2024, and their technical specs will be quite impressive. Gameplay will be presented at 60-120fps at a resolution of 2160p with the option to increase fidelity to 8K. They’re also expected to use an AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU.

Many believe this information to be based purely on speculation from TCL. After all, they have the consoles following a 3-4 year development cycle, but that was before component shortages took their toll on Microsoft and Sony’s ability to manufacture their consoles in the numbers required to meet demand. Rumors of a revised PS5 Pro console and new Xbox Series X|S have been circulating since the end of 2021. For what it’s worth, Jeff Grubb believes that while the PS5 will “get a 6nm refresh soon”, he doesn’t believe “there’s any chance of a Pro any time soon”.
