MultiVersus Mods Ban Wipes Out Gus Fring, Master Chief, and More

Players have been modding their own character skins into MultiVersus for a little while and one of the most popular of those is the Gus Fring Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul character skin. An update last week stopped mods from working with the basic version of the game. This wiped out Gus Fring, Master Chief, and many other hacked-in skins.

The Gus Fring Breaking Bad character skin created by “Dr.Zebi” is one of the more popular skins that has stopped working following alleged action from Warner Bros. Gus comes in his Los Pollos Hermanos outfit of a yellow shirt, black tie, and brown pants and uses a boxcutter as a weapon. His skin is applied over the top of Arya Stark.

As more and more mods made their way to popular marketplaces, they suddenly began to stop working. It appears that WB Games and Player First Games are cracking down on players that use modded skins in MultiVersus.

At the start of August, it emerged players who were streaming MultiVersus while using mods were facing copyright strikes. At the time, game director Tony Huynh promised he would “have a deeper discussion about what’s going on with the team that manages this” and let players know, but they’re still awaiting a response.

At the end of last week, it turned out the game wouldn’t even boot on PC if players had mods installed. Following a complaint written to him via Twitter, Tony Huynh essentially confirmed that mods needed to be removed in order to play the game.
