Winnie the Pooh Horror Movie Trailer Reveals Closer Look at Slasher Film

Now that A. A. Milne’s original Winnie-the-Pooh stories have entered the public domain, creators and artists are free to give their own takes on the beloved classic characters from the Hundred Acre Woods. From that has been borne the upcoming horror movie, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. Ahead of its release, a first look trailer for the Winnie the Pooh horror flick has been unveiled.

Winnie the Pooh horror movie trailer showcases slasher roots

Winnie is swapping honey for blood in this upcoming horror movie, after he and his best friend Piglet were left ‘abandoned’ by Christopher Robin. Seeking out more from life and leaving his former friends for college, Christopher makes a return to 100 Acre Woods with a female companion. Hoping to reunite with his childhood pals, he soon discovers the two now have a thirst for chaos, as he learns both Winnie and Piglet have turned feral…

Director Rhys Waterfield spent 10 days filming Blood and Honey in the very woodlands that served as the inspiration for Milne’s Hundred Acre Woods: Ashdown Forest in England. Some elements of Milne’s stories have been changed in this interpretation, to avoid copyright issues with Disney. That means no inclusion for certain characters like Tigger, and changing the outfit worn by Pooh Bear.

Along with the clear Milne influence, the inspiration taken from classic horror is very apparent. There are terrifying locations, bloody messages left scrawled for the unsuspecting victims, and women in bikinis. Taking those tropes and giving them such a unique spin is certainly going to make for some interesting results.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey will be released on DVD and VOD worldwide at some point in 2022. No official release date has yet been set.

In other news, the Yellowstone season 5 release date has been confirmed for Paramount Network, and The Sopranos Funko Pops have finally been revealed.
