Many of you have probably been spending the past weekend getting to grips with the heavily Pokemon-inspired Palworld. Given the hype surrounding this open-world, tactical survival game, it’s not surprising to see that it’s hitting milestone after milestone.
One of the fastest-selling games on Steam
As of right now, Palworld has shifted more than five million copies, according to a recent post on X. Bear in mind, it only came out a few days ago – in Early Access as well – so this number is staggering by any standards.
This latest development comes less than a day after the game surpassed four million copies, so we can expect the numbers to keep going up for the time being.
On top of selling an extraordinary amount, it’s also topped the Steam charts. At one point, it even managed to knock the Steam Deck down a place, though Valve‘s handheld is now back at its number one spot.
According to SteamDB – a website that chronicles all things related to Steam – Palworld experienced nearly 1.3 million concurrent players recently, with around 1.28 million online at the time of writing.
Without putting too fine a point on it, the survival game from developer Pocket Pair has become one of the fastest-selling Early Access releases in recent history, remarkably achieved in such a short span of time.
For those who haven’t played it yet, Palworld has been described as Pokemon-meets-guns or words to that effect. It tasks players with crafting, building, surviving, and adventuring in a world populated by cute animals called Pals. These creatures can be captured and used to either fight enemies or help out at the home base.
Palworld is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on Game Pass, which only makes the fact that it’s now at five million copies sold even more impressive.
