Resident Evil 3 Remake Splitscreen Co-Op

Resident Evil 3 Remake Splitscreen Co-Op | Is there local multiplayer?

With Resident Evil 5 introducing cooperative play to the mainline series, it’s only natural to wonder if you can play Resident Evil 3 remake in splitscreen co-op. Having one player take on the role of Jill, while the other controls Carlos could work well. Here’s what you need to know about RE3 remake local multiplayer and co-op.

Can you play Resident Evil 3 remake in splitscreen co-op?

Sadly, no. It’s not possible to connect another controller to your PC, PS4, or Xbox One and play Resident Evil 3 remake in splitscreen co-op. However, there is another form of multiplayer to enjoy.

While there are sometimes multiple characters featured in the campaign, they often split up and are left alone. A splitscreen co-op option for the story mode just wouldn’t make sense, though it would perhaps have been cool to see a wave-based survival mode that supported local co-op.

Does Resident Evil 3 remake have multiplayer?

Resident Evil 3 Remake Splitscreen Co-Op

Instead of a Resident Evil 3 remake splitscreen co-op mode, players have access to Resident Evil Resistance, a separate multiplayer experience that pits a team of players against a “mastermind.”

So, while it’s not possible to play Resident Evil 3 remake with a friend on the couch, taking control of Jill and Carlos as they battle against Nemesis and the undead, there is at least a different multiplayer component to try your hand at. You never know, it might surprise you!

As for another splitscreen co-op Resident Evil game, we’re still waiting to hear more from Resident Evil 8. However, what with how successful Resident Evil 7‘s single-player first-person experience was, it would be pretty wild for Capcom to take the series in another direction.
