The Suicide Squad (2021): Is there Batman or Superman cameo?

Is there a The Suicide Squad Batman or Superman cameo? Both Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League earlier this year, so it’s possible they could be back for the next DCEU movie. Batman actually appeared in the first Suicide Squad movie, and Superman was namechecked in one of The Suicide Squad’s trailers, so is Batman or Superman in Suicide Squad 2?

The Suicide Squad Batman Superman

Neither Batman (Ben Affleck) nor Superman (Henry Cavill) appears in The Suicide Squad, although Superman is mentioned as the reason Bloodsport (Idris Elba) was incarcerated in Belle Reve — he shot the Man of Steel with a Kryptonite bullet sometime following the events of Justice League, obviously not enough to kill him but enough to put him in the ICU.

As for Batman, despite featuring in the previous Suicide Squad movie he does not make a return appearance here, although his nemesis The Joker does get alluded to by Harley Quinn. Ben Affleck’s Batman will next appear in The Flash movie in 2022 starring Ezra Miller — who also appeared in the first Suicide Squad, but likewise does not reappear here. Other than Superman, none of the Justice League are even mentioned, despite the ultimate villain Starro the Conqueror being the first antagonist the Justice League ever faced in the comics — and is exactly the type of threat the Justice League is here to face.
