Finding the jewels for the subway clock puzzle in Resident Evil 3 remake is easier said than done. You won’t be able to get them during your first trip through the downtown area, so don’t spend too much time looking until you’ve returned from the power station.
How to solve the subway clock puzzle in Resident Evil 3 remake
When you examine the clock puzzle, you’ll see a plate that has three obvious indentations where something is missing. To solve the clock puzzle, you’ll need to find three jewels:
- Red Jewel
- Blue Jewel
- Green Jewel
The interesting thing about this puzzle is that you don’t need all three of the gems to get a reward. Each jewel you insert into the clock puzzle rewards you with one item, and you can put them in there at any time between when you get to the subway station for the first time and just before you get on the train to leave. So, it’s worth it to grab any jewels in your path, even if you’re trying to get through the game quickly.
Resident Evil 3 remake jewel locations
All three items you need to solve the jewel puzzle in the subway are located in the downtown area. However, two of them are locked behind doors that you’ll need special items to gain access to.
Red Jewel Location
The Red Jewel is the one gem that’s easy to find. You’ll find the jewelry box containing this item in the save room in the donut shop. It’s just laying out in the open, and you don’t have to do anything special to unlock it.
Blue Jewel Location
You’ll find the Blue Jewel in the supermarket. However, to get to it, you’ll need to find a way to cut the chain on the door. Fortunately, you’ll get the bolt cutters required to enter this location as part of the story. Once you’ve got them, you can make your way over to the supermarket and gain entry. Inside, on a counter, you’ll find this jewel.
Green Jewel Location
The Green Jewel requires yet another item to reach it. You’ll find this gem in the Toy Uncle store, but to get in there, you’ll need to get the lockpick. You’ll find this handy item as part of the story in the power station. Once you make your way back to the downtown area, you can pick the lock on the toy store and find the jewelry box inside.
What do I get for solving the clock puzzle in Resident Evil 3 remake?
Each jewel you insert into the clock in the subway station rewards you with one item.
- Red Jewel = Hand Grenade
- Green Jewel = Tactical Stock (Shotgun)
- Blue Jewel = Side Pack
Each of these items is handy, but not necessarily to complete the game. If you’re trying to get a good time, I recommend grabbing the Red Jewel, since it’s easy to get to and a Hand Grenade can take down Nemesis temporarily in one hit while he’s chasing you.
The other two jewels are a bit more out of the way, and the items you get aren’t really worth it unless you’re just playing for fun. I grabbed them during my first run through the game but never bothered after that.
