Gears Tactics controller support

Is there Gears Tactics controller support?

Gears Tactics is the only Gears of War game to ever have launched on PC ahead of the Xbox platform. Although the game is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox One eventually, some console gamers just can’t wait to get their fix and are wondering whether or not there’s Gears Tactics controller support on PC.

If you’re looking to pick Gears of War Tactics up on PC via Steam or the Windows 10 Store and want to play with a gamepad in-hand, here’s everything you need to know.

Is there Gears Tactics controller support on PC?

The Steam listing for Gears Tactics lists “Partial Controller Support” amongst the game’s features, but that’s far from definitive. Thankfully, we can offer something more concrete: the PC version does feature full Gears Tactics controller support, though it is only compatible with an Xbox controller for the time being.

ALSO: When is the Gears Tactics Xbox One release date?

Perhaps this shouldn’t come as a surprise, what with The Coalition and Xbox Game Studios actively working to bring the game to Xbox One in the future. Above you can see and study the default controller bindings for the game, hopefully ensuring that you can get stuck right into the all-new tactical take on the gory series.

As we previously alluded to, the PS4 controller (DualShock 4) is not currently supported in Gears Tactics on PC. Obviously we haven’t been able to verify whether or not every third-party controller works, so your mileage may vary, though do be aware that an Xbox One pad might currently be the only option.

Connecting an Xbox One controller to your PC while Gears Tactics is running should see the game automatically recognize the gamepad and switch over from keyboard and mouse controls. As such, you shouldn’t have any trouble enabling Gears Tactics controller support even if you’re a PC gaming novice.
