SEGA’s popular Yakuza series got a reinvention with Yakuza: Like A Dragon, also known as Yakuza 7, which made it more of an RPG rather than a beat-em-up. Therefore, it’s good that one of the most popular fighting games, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, is playable in the game. Previously this was limited to a Yakuza Like A Dragon Virtua Fighter 5 arcade cabinet, but now the full game is playable with a little tweaking. Here’s where and how to unlock Virtua Fighter 5 in Yakuza Like A Dragon.
How to get the Yakuza: Like A Dragon Virtua Fighter 5 full game
A limited version of Virtua Fighter 5 is playable in Yakuza: Like A Dragon in various in-game arcade cabinets, but it’s possible to unlock the full game with the help of a mod. The mod is called the “Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown unlocker” and it’s available here.
The Yakuza: Like A Dragon Virtua Fighter 5 in-game arcade cabinet always allowed players to take on a few rounds, and was even available in the previous title Yakuza 6, too. However, PC modder ‘Silent’ discovered that SEGA had actually emulated the whole of the Xbox 360 version of Virtual Fighter 5: Final Showdown in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and with a simple tweak to the game’s code they were able to make the full game playable. It even contains references to Xbox Live.
If you want to give the Yakuza: Like A Dragon Virtua Fighter 5 unlocker mod a go, head to Silent’s blog, download it, and extract it to the game’s directory. From there, head into Yakuza 7 or 6 and access the Virtua Fighter 5 arcade cabinet, and you should be playing the whole game. Note that you can’t save your progress and the pause menu doesn’t really work, but otherwise it reportedly plays perfectly.
